Daily Service

You will come with us on a trip, not further than 15 Km from the Athens' centre, to the South. Not many visitors realize that there lie a photogenic stretch of mountains, mineral lakes, seaside resorts and sandy beaches with blue-flag certified clean waters. The area is defined as « Greater Athens ».

The term «The Athenian Riviera» will not be found on Google Maps (yet), because it’s more of a concept. The term is used to describe a 50 Km long coastal road that stretches from the seaside retail hub of Glyfada to Cape Sounion and the ruins of the Temple of Poseidon.

Our staff will greet you at a place of your preference, according to the timetable you have agreed on. Our expert guides will take you for a short visit to the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Modern Olympic Games were held in 1896.

You will pass by the ancient sites of the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Hadrian’s Arch. Then you will make a right turn to the Greek Parliament and the Memorial of the Unknown Soldier. You will also see the discreet yet imposing premises of public institutions, such as the Academy, the University and the National Library.

You will pass once more by the Constitution Square (Syntagma) on your way to the Athens Acropolis. This imposing rock formation is home to the Architectural Masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens. Entering the citadel, you will encounter its ancient Gates, The Propylaea. You will walk further inside so as to meet the Temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheion. Finally, you will approach the monumental structure that which is known as the «trademark» of the holy rock. This is the temple of Parthenon, the house of the virgin goddess Athena, that was the city's patron for centuries. Hear about their customs, their history, their purpose and the way they were built.

After a short break for lunch at a local restaurant, we'll drive along the coastal road to our next destination.

Between Glyfada and Cape Sounion, there is a run of characterful seaside towns. As you'll see, each one of them it has a unique flavour. You will pass the suburbs of Voula, Kavouri, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza, Agia Marina, Lagonissi, Anavyssos and Saronida. You will experience the kind of island magic at any one of these places. The proximity to clean sea waters is the reason why many people visit Greece. You will have the same experience near Athens, without setting foot on a ferry. The options are numerous, from shopping or experiencing the nightlife in flamboyant Vouliagmeni, to visiting unspoiled craggy beaches in the little town of Agia Marina.

Your journey from Glyfada to Sounion will last a bit more than an hour. The view to your left will turn into a pastoral resort-like landscape. The view to your right though, will provide a coarse drama and stirring physicality reminiscent that could refer to Australia’s Great Ocean Road. There’s a constant, hypnotic sweep of the Aegean Sea and the nearby islands of the Saronic Gulf that make a contrast against the blue horizon.

The end of the tour « The Athenian Riviera – Private Tour », will find you in your private car/van, on the same route back to Athens, late in the afternoon.
