The promontory of Sounion was a place of great historic and religious importance for the ancient Greeks. For this reason, they had built on its top many temples through the centuries, among which is the Temple of Poseidon. It is the temple that still partially survives. Its proud white marble pillars have seen many centuries passing by, while they withstand the passing of time and the forces of nature.
