You will walk up the stairway and cross Vasilisis Amalias (Queen Amalia's) Avenue, towards the Greek Parliament. There you will have a chance to observe the Monument of the Unknown Soldier and the famous Presidential Guard changing shifts.
Our Athens guided walking tour continues south! A pleasant walk will lead us through the Greek National Garden to historical monuments linked to the ancient and modern history of Greece. You will see the Zappeion Hall, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Hadrian’s Arch.
From here, you will cross the avenue once more so as to enter the district of Plaka. A few minutes walk will get you to the Acropolis of Athens. With your guide, you will pass through its ancient gates the Propylaea, and you'll visit the Temple of Nike and the Temple Parthenon. All those monuments still standing, allow just a glimpse of the glory of Ancient Athens and what the city used to be like in the Golden Century of Pericles.
Not far from Propylaea, you will continue through the breezy green parks and you will find more ancient structures still standing to this day. The Athenian Agora, the Observatory, the Hill of Democracy (Pnyx), the Hill of Mars (ancient god of War), the Philoppapos Hill, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the Theatre of Dionysus.
