Port of your departure and arrival will be the port of Lavrion, so prior to your Tour or upon your return, you can experience everything Athens has to offer. It is a vibrant, cosmopolitan and historically rich city. As one of the world’s oldest cities, Athens is dense with ancient monuments, chic cafés and unique shops. Take your time and wander through Plaka to the Athens Acropolis and the New Acropolis Museum, which is one of the world’s greatest. If you are an art lover, a history geek or you enjoy bustling pedestrian thoroughfares and great food, even a few hours in this thrilling city will dazzle you.
You will be hosted in the Celestyal Olympia and your first call will be Mykonos. Being an island of great beauty will make you think you’ve woken into a dream. Enjoy its cool breezes as you walk in the blue-white alleys of Mykonos Town and, as the sun sets, feel free to explore the island’s world-famous endless nightlife. We will sail overnight so as to have our breakfast in quiet Kusadasi the very next morning. Its wonderful beaches and incomparable markets are in very close proximity to Ancient Ephesus and the Terrace Houses, which is one of the largest and most complete cities of the ancient world that have been excavated, the House of the Virgin Mary, beautiful Sirince Village and the thrilling metropolis of Izmir. In Kusadasi, you will also find a fantastically covered bazaar, where you can shop and enjoy the view of the city’s picturesque harbour.
You will arrive at the island of Patmos, a verdant, a blessed mountainous paradise considered one of the world’s loveliest destinations. This is the place where, as many people believe, the Book of Revelations was written by John the Apostle in a mountainside grotto, where he heard the voice of God. At the top of the mountain, within the white walls of Hora, the monastery that was founded in his honour in 1088 still stands guard above this holy island.
As you leave Patmos and sail for magnificent Rhodes, there you will have a full day to explore yet more incomparable places. The Palace of the Grand Masters, in the old walled city of Rhodes (which is a UNESCO World Heritage site), the ancient Acropolis of Lindos, high above the sea and the Citadel of the Knights. Places that will make you think you’ve stepped back in time. Every man or woman who visits Rhodes should also taste the delicious local wines, spend some time relaxing at Tsampika Beach or just stroll the old city and enjoy a tasteful lunch followed by a traditional Greek coffee.
From Rhodes, you will sail overnight to Heraklion. With its Venetian port and fortifications and its thriving and vibrant population is also the capital of Crete, Greece’s third largest City on its largest island and considered to be a very family friendly destination. It’s a wonderland of numerous secluded beaches, hiking trails, rivers and archeological marvels, including the Minoan Palace of Knossos and Festos archaeological site (ancient cities built by the first European civilization) and the Archaeological Museum in Heraklion. You will fall in love with Crete, no matter what you’ll do. Forget not to leave the island without a bottle of the world’s finest Cretan olive oil.
During midday, you will sail from Heraklion to catch your coming evening in breathtaking Santorini. Experience the spectacle of its massive cliffs as they rise from the agean blue waters. Seize the opportunity of a jeep safari, board on a cruise to Santorini’s small islands and volcanoes, visit the Akrotiri Village’s excavations or enjoy a coffee in spectacular Oia Village and watch the famous sunset view from 300 meters above the azure sea.
Your magical four days Tour will conclude on another glorious Attic morning. That was the end of the Greek Islands 4-Day Cruise. So what did you love the most? It was all of it, wasn’t it ?
